MAGIC
MUSHROOMS

What magic mushrooms?

Psilocybin and psilocin are the main active ingredient of magic mushrooms. Psilocybin is a substance contained in about 40 species of mushrooms that grow in North America, Europe, Australia and South East Asia.

Consumption form :

They are ingested fresh (in salads, omelettes...) or dry, they can be sniffed or smoked if they are transformed in powder.

What are the effects?
Category : Hallucinogenic
Caractéristics : "Hallucinogenic mushrooms" is the name commonly given to psychoactive fungi, containing hallucinogenic compounds such as psilocybin and psilocin. At low doses, hallucinogenic drugs have main effect an alteration of perception, thought or mood, while maintaining clarity and with minimal effects on memory and orientation. Despite their name, the use of hallucinogenic drugs rarely results in true hallucinations.

Effects:

Effects are similar to those of LSD products and the feeling of relaxation similar to those of cannabis. The sensations begin after about half an hour and can last from four to six hours.

Short-term effects:

In small doses (4 to 8 mg)
Sensation of psychological and physical relaxation.
  Sensation of relaxation or fatigue.
  Sensation of detachment from reality.
  Sensation of heaviness or lightness.

In high doses (13 mg or more)
Perceptive distortions, giddiness, abdominal malaises, mouth numbness, nausea, tremors, yawns, heat whiffs, perspiration.
  Feeling of ecstasy.
  Colored hallucinations.
Feeling of unreality and incapacity of concentration.

Long term effects:
These mushrooms accelerate the psychosis in users, who are the most sensitive.
Headaches, fatigue, contemplation and lost appetite.
In individuals with psychiatric antecedents or in case of strong use, the ingestion of mushrooms might develop anxiety states, depression, disorientation, panic crisis and incapacity to distinguish illusion from reality.
Hallucinating mushrooms have in common with LSD the risk of "flash back" : the symptoms reappear even in absence of the drug.
In the physic plan, it's been noticed an increase of the cardiac rhythm, arterial hypertension, increase in the diameter of the pupil, hyperthermia and hyperglycemias.

Dependence: Mushrooms like all other hallucinogenics carry especially a psychological dependence : Irrational desire of taking the product again to feel the sensations.

At long term, a tolerance to the product and hallucinogenics in general is developed. The observed effects decrease, taking the same quantity. That can carry up the consumption of other drugs, even harder, at the risk of fatal overdose.

Legislation :
Hallucinogenic mushrooms is an illicit product.
